The Transportation Sr. Manager, Inbound Operations is responsible for leading the financial and operational performance of Best Buy’s Inbound freight program. This role will lead the transportation strategy on partnering with Best Buy’s internal Merchant and Demand Planning teams on the conversion of freight to Best Buy’s collect program. In addition, this role will be responsible for the overall execution of transporting the freight into Best Buy facilities to include: metrics, key performance indicators, carrier management, performance, and overall operational execution from load tender to freight payment. This role will lead a team of nine transportation professionals, with four direct reports within Best Buy’s Supply Chain, and report to the Director of Transportation. Best Buy’s Collect Transportation Program Lead the strategy of Best Buy’s collect transportation program to include: the evaluation process (financial and operational), freight allowance, and vendor freight allowance negotiation strategy.
Represent Transportation on partnership opportunities with internal partners such as the Merchant, Demand Planning, Distribution Centers, and Scheduling Teams.
Responsible for the overall financial performance of freight allowances, and inbound transportation cost.
Key contributor to Best Buy carrier freight Request for Pricing’s (RFP) to include: RFP strategy, negotiation, carrier selection and implementation.
Transportation Operations In depth knowledge of Less than Load, Truckload, and Intermodal transportation modes.
Proven track record of continuous process improvement along the “Life Cycle of an Order” (transportation).
Utilization of data-based metrics and facts to drive operational improvement (speed/spend/service).
Ownership of carrier and vendor relationships to include: operational and strategic engagements.
Key driver of Best Buy’s overall long-term transportation strategy.
Lead role for Holiday peak strategy, planning, and execution with internal and external stakeholders of Best Buy’s inbound freight.
Engages with stakeholders on exception management and leads the resolution until complete.
Partners with internal and external stakeholders on claim root cause analysis and resolution.
Collaborates with carriers and stakeholders on performance expectations, accountability, and improvement.
Leads and develops their team and themselves through coaching, transparency, and accountability.
Basic Qualifications: 5 or more years of Transportation, Logistics and/ or related Supply Chain experience
3 or more years leadership experience
Strong business and financial acumen
Office computer skills, understanding of retail supply chain, strong analytical skill, strong communication skills (written and verbal) and understanding of Retail Industry
Analytical problem-solving experience
Preferred Qualifications: College Degree or equivalent
Lean Six-Sigma
Finance education or background
Knowledge of omni-channel retail industry and interest in supply chain management
7 or more years of Transportation, Logistics and/ or related Supply Chain experience
