Transportation Director (AACOG) This is a responsible supervisory position which requires the planning, development, and implementation of all transportation programs and the oversight of the regional transportation and natural resources departments. This position manages and coordinates regional transportation planning activities, develops and implements transportation outreach programs, and oversees department budgets. Supervises Transportation and Natural Resources Department staff with special attention to customer service, work distribution, counseling, performance appraisals, policy compliance, and safety; Manages and coordinates regional transportation planning activities, including short and long term goals and the expansion of the comprehensive transportation service plan for the Alamo Area region; Develops and implements transportation outreach programs to enhance the regional scope of the transportation services offered; Provides timely status reports to Area Judges, Senior Staff, and Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), and other funding sources; Oversees the administration of real property, vehicle fleet, and equipment, including acquisition, maintenance, and disposal; Administers multiple program budgets and researches new grant funding opportunities and private sector partnerships; and ensures compliance of transportation and natural resources contracts, agreements, and grants. Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Education/Job Experience: Bachelor’s in Public or Business Administration, or a related field. At least eight (8) years of supervisory experience leading, training and guiding subordinates in transportation management; Or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skill, and abilities.
Other Qualifications: Certified Community Transit Manager (CCTM) preferred; Ability to work quickly and accurately with numbers, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and computation of percentages on a ten-key calculator; demonstrate ability to use a calculator by touch; good working knowledge of and ability to apply generally accepted accounting principles; Ability to prepare journal entries, and to reconcile and balance accounts; Ability to demonstrate proficiency in both oral and written communication; and knowledge of automated accounting systems; Ability to operate accounting, spreadsheet, and word processing software; ability to read and write; ability to type 45 words per minute with a high degree of accuracy; And ability to interpret policies and procedures, to understand complex grant contracts and financial arrangements, and to analyze data. This position is a Pay Grade 27. Salary commensurate with experience. This is an exempt position. Open until Filled.
