The Road Transport Manager is responsible for delivery of value for our Business Partners (Shell Retail , Aviation, T & S Products) through safe, efficient and sustainable road transport operations across UK, Netherlands, Belgium, France and Luxemburg. The successful candidate will need to passionately champion and drive the efforts required to deliver Goal Zero (NO HARM NO LEAK) every day, negotiate and manage contracts with the road transport hauliers, collaborate with internal stakeholders to enable value creation and deliver exceptional service level.
In addition, this role will play a lead role in delivering energy transition programs both within own operations and in collaboration with business partners (traditional and new energies).
This role sits in the UK & BENEFRUX Distribution Operations Leadership team creating an energized and enabled Distribution Operations community.

Leads, coaches and develops the team of 18 FTEs dispersed in five markets in the UK & BENEFRUX cluster
Key member of UK & BENEFRUX Leadership team creating an energized, engaged and enabled Distribution Operations community
HSSE
Responsible for delivering safe, compliance and secure road transport operations by:
Demonstrating visible & felt leadership with the team and contractors.
Developing generative HSSE culture of contractors.
Contributing to the delivery of the yearly Cluster HSSE Plan.
Managing HSSE incidents, disseminating learnings and embedding sustainable mitigations, through working with HSSE partners.
Ensuring cargo security at all stages of the fuel distribution through the sustainment of the fuel loss prevention programme.
Promoting HSSE Best Practice and improvement initiatives, supporting their implementation, embedment and sustainment in the cluster. Active involvement in the Road Safety programmes and the HSSE improvement work with Mobility & Aviation.
Contribute to HSSE audits and own the self-assurance process.
Create Value
Enable E2E value creation for the T&S business and Performance Units by safe, compliant, reliable, flexible and efficient road transport services and seamless collaboration with Supply Operations, OTD (Order-to-Delivery) and commercial teams (i.e. Retail, Aviation, LNG, CRT, LCF and New Energies)
Contract Owner of the High HSSE risk Road Transport contracts.
Embed PACM (Post-Award Contract Management) and deliver on the requirements for contract holder and contract users.
Work with OTD to deliver unit RT cost and cost savings through Road Transport Continuous Improvement & Ultimate Potential.
Design and implement Road Transport contracting strategy and delivery for the cluster.
Champion Continuous Improvement within T&S/Retail and with the hauliers’ management to deliver efficient operations (annual cost savings and unit road transport targets apply).
Powering Progress Strategy - “Delivering the Energy Transition”
Lead CO2 reduction and sustainability programs across RT Operations.
Act as Cluster CO2/Sustainability Focal Point - working within global network to play leading role in decarbonization of Road Transport Operations.
Partner with new and existing business partners to deliver sustainable customer offers and products – (eg Hydrogen, Low Carbon Fuels).
Operational Performance
Deliver outstanding service levels to business partners.
Ensure full Commercial Compliance of the hauliers with the agreed commercial terms & conditions. Manage Freight Billing and other haulier payments.
Manage the security budget and sustainment of the fuel loss prevention programme.
Participate in Road Transport Functional Network activities.
Ensures implementation, embedment and sustainment of global, cluster and country programmes, standards, tools and initiatives focussed on Road Transport.
This role will also require frequent travel (30%) within the UK & BENEFRUX cluster.
Whilst London or Rotterdam are preferred locations - alternative locations or home -based within UK/NL/FR/BE will be considered
