Job Details:
SUMMARY: This position is responsible for part of the distribution plan for several business groups with transportation costs of approximately 35000000 annually and with an average of 600 shipments weekly. The Distribution Planner will be responsible for the implementation and execution of the Distribution Planning Manager s overall business plan. The planner will interact closely with internal sales and customer service teams Distribution Centers and third-party warehouses plants and Transportation Team Members to solve problems such as late orders weight and cube deficiencies or excesses and problems involving delivery appointments while at the same time ensuring Tyson s service standards are achieved. Frequently calls and receives calls from customers with questions regarding their deliveries. This position s daily responsibilities include but are not limited to: creating optimal distribution solution to ensure customers service requirements are met while simultaneously achieving lowest cost solution in combining LTL orders for a specific geographic region using SAP TM; provide distribution solutions that meet government regulatory requirements; respond to and resolve time-sensitive issues; hiring directing guiding and developing management support Appointment Coordinators Team Members in the process of load planning scheduling of delivery appointments and customer service; coordinate with sales and credit teams to resolve order credit issues; and performing other duties as the need arises.
REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION: A Bachelor s degree in Transportation and Logistics or related field or an equivalent of related work experience.
EXPERIENCE: 1 plus year experience.
COMPUTER SKILLS: Intermediate computer skills knowledge of Microsoft Suite software ability to prepare standard spreadsheets and presentations.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Strong written and verbal communication skills. Comfortable speaking and presenting in small group settings.
SPECIAL SKILLS: Critical thinking and problem-solving skills; strong computer and system skills ability to manage multiple tasks and participate in a cross-functional environment. Understanding of government regulations and standards as it applies to transportation. Commitment to continuous improvement. This position provides functional guidance for other members of its work unit to complete assigned work.
SUPERVISORY: 1 - 2 direct reports Distribution Clerk III - Management Support
TRAVEL: 1 to 5 domestic trips per year.
